Course Description

A course designed to provide an insight into fire regulations and precautions and enable delegates to carry out the duties of a Fire Warden or Fire Marshal. This course will help fulfil their obligations under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. This course is suitable for those who are responsible for overseeing fire safety, designated fire marshal or warden and anyone who needs to know how to use a fire extinguisher.

This course has 7 modules :

1.Introduction
As an Evacuation Marshal/Warden for your organization, it is a very important role and one in which your colleagues may one day depend on you for their safety.

2. All About Fires
In this module we will try to gain a better understanding of fire, the chemical reactions that take place when a fire begins and how these contribute to the spread of fire.

3. Fire Prevention
In this section we will look at the elements that a fire needs to exist, where these can be found in the office environment and what can be done to reduce the risks.

4. Environmental Hazards
Here we will look at some of the hidden dangers that are associated with fire along with some places that you shouldn't go in the event of a fire.

5. Fighting Fires
In this session we will look at when and how a Evacuation Warden can attempt to put out a small fire. We will also look at the equipment used for several types of fire.

6. Supporting Disabilities
Evacuation Wardens may be required to support people with disabilities by assisting them to get out of the building in an emergency.

7. Practical Training
Along with the material we have covered in this e-learning course it is helpful for Evacuation Wardens to have some practical experience of using evacuation chairs and using an extinguisher to put out a fire. Speak to your safety advisor or line manager about complimentary practical training.

Who can take the course?

Is there a test at the end of the course?
Once you have completed all the modules there is a multiple choice test. The questions will be on a range of topics found within the modules. The test, like the course, is online and can be taken at a time and location of your choosing.

What if I don't pass the test?
If you don’t pass the test first time then you will get further opportunities to take the test again after extra study. There are no limits to the number of times you can take the test. All test retakes are included within the price of the course.

When will I receive my certificate?
Once you have completed your test you can log in to your account and download/print your certificate any time you need it.

How long does it take to complete the course?
We estimate that the entire program is likely to take around 2-4 hours to work through initially, but you may want to allow more time to repeat some areas. You should allow an additional 30 minutes for the end of course test.
